About: Thaddeus Du Bois

This is the very first designer fashion handbag that I have brought to production.  The design is based on a misadventure my wife and I had in Argentina, we got lost (probably my fault) and had a misadventure, so I designed Miss Adventure, next time we will be ready for wherever we end up.  Carry Miss Adventure on your next travel and be ready, both practically and fashionably.   I hand forge the stainless steel hardware, strong and durable like your own adventurous spirit, here at my studio in North Webster, Indiana , My signature is embroidered in Indiana and the bag is sewn and assembled in New Jersey.  The leather is a brownish/green buttery soft Italian lamb skin paired with a fine plaid wool suiting material for the lining.  The color or type of leather can be adjusted with a minimum order of 12 handbags.  If you would like to have your own Miss Adventure please call me on my cell phone to place your order.  If you are a Boutique or other retailer interested in carrying my line of fashion handbags please call (907) 301-1373 or email possiden2@yahoo.com for wholesale or discount pricing.

Bronze or Stainless Steel heart shaped cufflinks.  These are cast in Kentucky, hand finished and signed by myself.  I originally designed these to wear to the opera when I didn't have any of my own cufflinks so I fashioned my first pair out of steel and wore my heart on my sleeve.  A great gift for Valentines Day or for wedding parties.    $125 a pair.

"Pro Deus"  A door way representing the Holy Trinity, grasping religion, suffering on the cross, direction and passing through to the other side. Created 2008, hand forged steel and antique wooden door. Currently on display at Sunrise Photograpy, North Webster, Indiana.  $20,000

The reverse side of "Pro Deus"

This was a commission for New Hope Christian Academy in Memphis, TN.  This was a gift from the 2009 6th grade graduating class to the school.  I cast all of the childerens hands with their signature in bronze and mounted them to rough cut cypress with a polished steel cross.  My interpretation goes like this...here are all these children that have been taught a Christian religion and they are beneath the cross, or under the protection, in the shelter of God, as they strive for greatness and expand their learning and faith in God, they reach upwards in everything they do as they grow into adults. The cross or God, expands beyond the boundaries reaching not only above and below but from side to side to encompass more than we can even know. My hope is that these hands will not only represent the actual children whom they belong to but will be representative of all children and everyone that views this sculpture, that it will inspire and provoke contemplation.  5' by 8' by 8"

"Our Love" created in Memphis, TN. February 14th 2009. 34" tall by 18" wide by 20" long. $3,700

The two rings represent the world, the star is the Universe and cupids arrow comes from the heavens and pierces the heart, this heart is the viewers heart it is now up to you to decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing, it is a real physical piercing which could cause pain and death, or maybe it is like cupids arrow and only makes you fall in love. The leather bonds are softer than the steel and will deteriorate with time sooner than the steel so they are only temporary for the life of the viewer just like when they die their own flesh and blood will deteriorate in the grave. The viewer creates these bonds which position them in the world, they are adjustable and allow you to center yourself. These bonds also hold you back. They are things like a spouse, children, pets, homes, jobs, property and commitments. These are all things that you have positioned around yourself as your loves that tell you who you are and your position in life but they also hold you back. Below is a heavy steel heart, this is a grounding, a "heavy heart" when people like your grandparents or parents or someone you love dies it really grounds us and puts perspective on what is important in life. The whole sculpture is able to spin just like the world does but it is on one pivot a fine balance with spikes to impale and kill should you fall off your balance. Below are mirror pieces which reflect what others see in us. There is no clear picture and no way to see the whole sculpture by looking in these mirrors. This is how others see you, only part of your life, a fractured, distorted view and never the whole thing or the truth. Light from the room then reflects off these mirrors and throws tiny little stars of lights on the ceiling of the room tying it all back into the heavens where the arrow came from.

"Bound by Time" created in Memphis, TN. 2008 14" in diameter, 22" tall without the candles. $1,000

This sculpture is all about time, the half circle represents the sun and has ray like grinder marks in the steel, around the ring are 4 spikes like a sun dial might have to mark the four quadrants of time and the circle also has two pointers like a clock would have, the rings going over the half circle are the increments of time to which we are bound, two of them diverge then re converge and terminate in the candles which were once used to measure the passage of time as they burned down. I think we as humans, at least the ones I know in my little world are obsessed with time and we measure it and use it to measure out lives, we can't escape it and are kind of like slaves to time, it runs and ruins our life like an evil slave master that doesn't care about our well being.

Dive Helmet, This helmet and tank were part of a presentation on an interpretation of John Berger's book "Ways of Seeing"  Hand forged steel, plexiglass.  The helmet has a B.C. quick disconnect fitting so that you can run it as a free flow helmet from a scuba tank controlling your air flow with the tank valve.  $2,000 for the helmet $2,000 for the tank, both are on display at Sunrise Photography in North Webster, Indiana.

The DNA coatrack is currently on display and in use at Vibe Styling Salon and Day Spa in Eagle River, Alaska www.vibestyling.com  home of my very favorite stylist, Sienna, who is a true master of her art.

"Christine Goes to New York"  This is a sculpture about  Christine whom I was dating, didn't work out, she left for New York so the path she is traveling is detached from the back, she has left the past behind and the past is split and narrow while the future is wide and smooth and that is where she is attached and traveling too.  Beneath her is broken glass with the words "I Love" written on the shards.  If she falls then she risks killing herself with all her loves, and it is all her loves that will cause her the most damage if she does not avoid them.  Her face is made of stone, it's one that we collected on the beach together, she is confident in her walk and sure of each step, however she is balanced on one foot with each step and the whole base is balanced on a rocking point.   Welded steel, glass, stone, spruce.  Approx. 10" tall 14" long and 6" wide $1,800

"Christy 1,2,3"  I dated three Christy's in a row, it didn't work out for me.  This sculpture is about , well...I don't know, it's interpretation is that here are three women all trying to be better, to rise above but they are holding on to eachother for support and using eachother as stepping stones.  By themselves they would fall but together they are getting nowhere, in their stomachs are holes which also represent their whole being, inside of these holes are stuffed shards of glass with "I love" etched in them.  It is this love that makes them whole but is also killing them, their love is doing more harm than good.  Steel and stone on a spruce base.  Approx. 10" tall and 10" in diameter.  $2,000

Business Card Holder, I enjoy making these, they are miniture sculptures that you can set on your desk and make great conversation pieces while allowing you to show off a little bit of your own personal taste at work.  The sizes vary but they are all made from steel and I just set a flat rate of $75 regardless because they let me experiment with shapes and designs.  If you would like to order one or several for gifts please give me a call.  Plan ahead if you are getting them for a specific event or day, I'm only one person and can only work so fast at creating individual works of art.

"Scorpion Bull Card Holder"  The little stinger tail points to where you need to be looking.  This was sold by Lulalyn Gallery in Memphis to one of their clients.  Hand forged steel.

Lulalyn Gallery sold this business card holder for me also.

My first work in Memphis, TN.  I needed a trivet to keep my oatmeal pot from burning the table at breakfast time.  This was also my first sale in Memphis thanks to Kevin and Ralph at Lulalyn Gallery.  Someone in Memphis owns it now.

"Mirror, Mirror"  A hand mirror that shows our love, sometimes a cracked and flawed reflection of what we really want to see. (notice the crack in the mirror)  Forged steel and mirror, approx. 12" by 20" owned by a family in Muncie, Indiana sold through Art and Soul by Phoebe Gallery.

"Pretty as a Flower"  A hand mirror to show how beautiful you are.  A friend told me "Mirror, Mirror with the petals of metal, who's the fairest of them all?"  Approx. 14" by 8" by 3" hand forged steel and mirror $125

Dry layed limestone steps for a client in Indiana.  They start with one step and gradually widen as they descend to approx. 10' wide, overall length down the hill is approx. 30'  I can come to whatever location you desire and create on site.

A stone walkway I created for my own house in Anchorage, Alaska.  I have restricted space so the use of power equipment was not an option, this I built moving the rocks by hand.  Approx. 5' tall by 3' wide by 25' long.  Each rock is about 2-3' in diameter.  I can create walls, walks, stairs, or any sort of landscape architectural design.  I will talk with you about your dreams and come up with a design and plan to accomplish it, any time, anywhere, even underwater since I'm also a certified Commercial Diver from The Divers Institute of Technology.  Give me a call, I can do it!  (907) 301-1373

"Midevil Gate"  This was a commission for Sunrise Photography in North Webster, Indiana.  They wanted a good photographic background as well as a gate for the front horse pasture.  Forged steel, wood, concrete and cultured stone.  Approx. 12' tall by 30' wide and 2' thick.  Completed 1999

Business sign commissioned for Land Mark Bed and Breakfast.  Steel, approx. 7' tall by 5' wide by 2' thick.

Business sign commission for Sunrise Photography in North Webster, Indiana www.sunrisephoto.com  Steel approximately 8' at the longest by 5' by 5" thick

"Steel Sunrise"  This is over my parents bed room door to their back porch.  It's the sun rising from the surface of the water with the last star of the night still shining just before the sun comes all the way over the horizon.  Steel, brass and copper.

"Sunrise of the Industrial Revolution"  This is all made from recycled steel.  The idea is that we use all our ideas from the past, all the things we have done and create a new vehicle to take us into the future.  It's a new age and a new revolution of recycling not only material but processes.  Here I am at the controls.  I started this a few years ago on one of my vacations home to my parents house in Indiana, see, I live in Alaska, mom wanted a steel wall or steel background to photograph against.  Somehow we talked my dad into letting me build this and put  it in the front yard.  I'm not quite done with it, I had to leave before I was finished and now I need a generator so I can weld it in the field on location because it was so hard moving I don't want to do it again.  Eventually it will be finished, I love playing on it though, it's like playground equipment for artists.  Approx. 12' tall by 8' wide by 20' long.

"Monster Heart Display Case"  I made this for myself to display some of my smaller sculptures.  Love is a dangerous things sometimes,  it's scary, has claws and can devour you  The glass was removed for the picture.  Approx. 4' by 3' by 4' polished steel and glass.  $4,000

"Dragon Lure" This is what you use when you go fishing for dragons.  Carved Alaskan spruce, manilla rope steel and yarn.  Approx. 13" by 6" by 2"   $700

"Ashley's Lamp"  this is a lamp I finished for Ashley in Indiana.  It's made from mostly oak sticks and twigs woven together with raffia and a pink sheer fabric.  Approximately 6' tall by 2' diameter.  I know the background is distracting but this is the only image I have of it.

"Drum Table"  This is a coffee table I made for my parents, the woods next to our property got logged and this stump from a 130 year old oak was left.  I hollowed it out and stretched rawhide over the top so it worked like a drum and as a table.  The deer antler candle stand and turtle shell rattler were some things I was playing with at the time also.  I think this was in 1999.

This is a giant basket I wove.  I really enjoy weaving free form baskets from twigs, unfortunately I never took any pictures of the ones I made in the past.  This one is the largest I've made, about 3' in diameter, funny thing was that it was a hot Indiana summer and I was showing Cassidy who was 12 at the time how to weave.  I had my shirt off and was showing her how you harvest the sapplings and then bend them using your body.  The next day I had poison ivy all over my body, it looked like I had received 100 lashes on a pirate ship, all these welted and seeping red lines across my chest, arms and face.  Poor Casidy only had them on her arms and face but I sure felt bad for the both of us.  heheeh  ;)

This is a Native American style of drum I made.  The wood is Hickory from a tree that fell in our woods, the skin is deer skin that I tanned myself.  The lacing is from that same hide.

"Ribbon and Bow End Table"  This piece was inspired by some of the beautiful metalwork my wife and I saw in Argentina, particularly the Recoletta Cemetary in Buenos Aires.  Painted forged Steel with beige marble top.  1' by 1' square on top, about 15" square on the bottom and 30" tall.  $800

"Sunshine Pattern Table"  This piece was also inspired by Argentina.  On the sides are flowers with the sun shining on them in the back is the rain clouds with the rain coming down and splashing onto the flowers.  Painted steel with beige marble.  approx. 2' long by 1' wide by 30" tall.  $900

A slate end table.  This is in use now at Sunrise Photography.  Steel, copper, slate.  Approx. 30" tall by 2' long by 1' wide.  $600

"Thaddeus Style Snow Goggles"  This is how Native Alaskans use to make snow goggles...kind of.  They fit well but I never did try them out in the mountains.  Cotton wood bark, coyote vertibrae, hemp.

A present for my father-in-law Mr. Hillis in Whale Pass, Alaska.  Hand forged steel, you use the point to score the foil around the wine bottle, or I suppose you could use it as a fid on a boat or maybe as self defense in case a bear or some sourdough tries to take your wine.

This is "Grocery Bag #2" a modified version of my original Grocery Bag #1.  She is 22" tall by 8" wide by 14.5" long.  Made from a canvas polka dot print with leather bottom and leather handles.  My signature is embroidered across the front.  This bag will be auctioned off on February 26th, 2010 at a luncheon in Providence, Rhode Island to benefit www.goredforwomen.org  part of the American Heart Association.

The handles fold down inside the bag so that when carrying heavy items you can carry it at arms length instead of having the straps dig into your shoulder.  I make these custom and individually right now.  There are all sorts of fabric and leather or even all leather combinations.  Hemp fabric of various weaves and American Bison leather are my two latest version options.  They start at $1,000.  Call or email me to have an original made specifically for you.  (907) 301-1373  or  possiden2@yahoo.com

This is "Genesis 1-9"  it is hand formed steel and leather approximately 18" tall by 15" long by 7" wide.  The bag is on two pivots so it rotates or swings left and right.  This way when you pick it up by the ball on the top the bag swings level when you carry it, just like water does.  The lines in Genesis 1:1-9 out of the Bible NIV version describes the bag.  I created this for a cancer benefit in Richmond, Virginia.  It was auctioned off on November 5th 2009 at the Westin 6631 West Broad St. Richmond, VA. 23230 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  The event information and registration is http://www.cancerlinc.org/new_events.html

Pencil Case #1, hand sewn  heavy 8 ounce leather in brown with polished wax finish.  Black, red or blue are other color options.  The lid is a snug press fit.  This was the original one, it is now owned by a family in Muncie, Indiana sold through Art and Soul by Phoebe Gallery  It measures 8" tall by 1.5" in diameter.  $200

"Goe" is for the woman on the go that does not take stop or no for an answer, she is Goe !  Strapped down, quick release with fangs for teeth she is tough but flows, she is Goe !  Hand sewn, hand dyed heavy saddle leather with black suede lining and interior pocket.  Approximately 10" long by 4" wide by 6" tall.  I am currently working to bring this bag to production but handmade ones can be individually ordered.  $3,000

"The Huntress"  This fashion handbag is made of wool, leather and hand forged steel, created in 2007, approx. 12" long x 6" wide x 8" tall.  The person that carries this handbag has the attitude to go with it, strong, commanding, adventurous, protective.  A true individual one of a kind.  $2,000

Three of my handbags are posted at http://www.handbagdesigner101.com/designer/472/thaddeus_du_bois_du_bois_thaddeus

"Miss Adventure"   Owned by my sister Clarissa in Indiana.  Inspired by an adventure my wife and I had in Argentina, a map pocket inside the front flap so you don't get lost.  Hand forged stainless steel hardware, leather and a fabric lining.  Approximately 12" wide by 4" thick by 10" tall.

"The Nighty Night Nighty"  This dainty little handbag is sexy all the way down to it's 3" steel stilettos, anybody gets frisky with the owner of this bag might get more than they bargained for.  4" diameter by 11" tall.  $150

"Lakota's Camera Case"  a digital camera case I made for my wife.

"The Submariner"  Hand tooled leather and forged steel.  This is the handbag that a submariner might carry when they go out on the town, reminds them of home.  The leather has a wavelike pattern that a surface cruising sub would make as it glides stealthily along.  The lid has a secret twist lock which then opens like a pressure hatch to access the inside.   4" diameter by 7" at the widest by 10" tall.  $550

"The Vampire Slayer"  This bag is for those nights out on the town when you have to be on your guard for predators. Should you run into a vampire that needs slayed then this bag aint your granny's vampire slayin' bag 'cause wood might work on normal vampires but cyborg vampires and robo vampires can only be killed with steel stakes! The solution is this bitchin' functional weaponry defensive sculpture art. The inside has a wallet or key pocket and a pen loop all from flat black suede leather.
8"x6"x4"  Have a Vampire Slayer made for you.   $1,000

This bag was featured in an advertisement in Gothic Beauty Magazine issue #29 and was shown at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art in Anchorage, Alaska October 2009 as well as at Art and Soul by Phoebe Gallery in Muncie, Indiana December 2009.  This original is now owned by a wonderfull young lady in Muncie, Indiana.  I'm sad to see her go but she is in a good home and I really liked this bag a lot.  I can make more at least, because I want one for myself, it was so fun to carry.

Hand bag created for Pastor Debbie Lowe of New Life Church in Warsaw, Indiana.  Leather, purchased hardware and hand forged cross.  Approximately 12" by 4" by 10"

I don't think I ever named this bag.  I donated it to Pacific Northern Academy in Anchorage, Alaska for a fund raising auction.  This bag has been named by its current owner, Kristina of Anchorage, Alaska and is now known as "Flames and Funk".  Leather, forged steel and a Chinese dragon style satin fabric.  Approx. 10" by 8" by 4"

"The Christy Clutch"  This was one of my first handbags, suede and forged steel.  Approx. 10" by 6" by 4".  This one is not for sale since i'm keeping it but I could make one similar to it or modify this design to your liking.

"Clutch My Heart"  kind of self explanitory, whether you are clutching it or holding it by the heart handle.  This is one i'm kind of fond of also so yeah I'm keeping it but I'd be more than happy to make one similar for you.  Forged steel and suede.  Approx. 7" by 3" by 5"

"The Indra Bag"  Indra of Anchorage, Alaska purchased this bag the day it was finished and I hadn't named it yet so I told her I'd name it after her.  Leather with a canvass lining, approx. 10" by 4" by 8"

"The Heart Breaker"  This bag was designed for Alexis who at the time was living in Brooklyn, New York.  I wanted to make something that made her look like the woman you didn't want to mess with and since she was riding the subway I wanted something that stood well off the floor which I image might be really gross.  I've never been to Brooklyn or ridden the subway there, I was just imagining the worst.  The bag holds a notebook computer and sketchbook or magazines while the two end pockets were designed specifically for beer, one for you and one for a buddy.  This bag makes a super sweet jingle as you walk from all the rings on it.  Leather and forged steel.  Approx. 22" by 16" by 5"

"Grocery Bag"  I figured I needed a designer grocery bag.  I gave this one to Kevin and Ralph, owners of Lulalyn Gallery in Memphis, TN. for all their help in supporting my artwork.  The really neat part of this bag is that the handle folds down inside to make a shorter carry.  If you load a bunch of heavy groceries into it and it starts to hurt your shoulder you can fold in the handle and carry it at arm length distributing the weight straight down like you might carry a heavy bucket.  Leather and canvass print.  Approx. 20" by 12" by 6"

"Little Wild Thing"  I designed this one for my sister Clarissa in Indiana.  Rubber bike innertubes and fake monster fur.  Approx. 8" by 5" by 2" closed.

"Lover Scorned"  I made this bag for a Christmas party give away, the ones where you wrap presents and don't know who is going to get them.  An X-Novartis team member of mine got it and I think she liked it.  The two little pockets on the front were designed to hold condoms ;)  Leather and a Chinese dragon style satin fabric, approx. 8" by 5" flat

My card case wallets.  I think my whole family has one of these, mine is in the lower left.  I'm really happy with it, I've been carrying it now for 5 years and it's holding up perfectly.  This design and one with a heart cut out are ones I'm working on bringing into production.

"Purple Heart"  This bag was a commission from Amy in New York, she said she liked purple and to put some metal on it.  The little heart feet spin.  Hand forged steel, satin fabric and lace.  Approx. 12" by 8" by 5"

"Last Day at Nordstrom"  This was my first successful handbag.  It was my last day working at Nordstrom, the store was dead and I had about an hour before I was off.  I salvaged these scraps from the tailor shop and banged this thing together.  I gave it to Christine who was the one that originally told me I should make handbags.  I think she is in Oregon now.

"Spenard Star"  I made this bag for my sister Terri in Kentucky.  Forged steel, leather,  beads and my old jeans.  Approx. 6" by 8" by 3"

"Techno Dive Bag II"  This was my sister Clarissa's birthday present a few years ago.  Rubber, canvass, forged steel.  Approx. 10" by 6" by 2"

"Techno Dive Bag I"  This was one of my early bags, I didn't know I could buy magnetic clasps for handbags at Wal Mart so I sewed a magnet and a steel plate into my bag...it kinda worked.  The pouch on the outside holds a condom (the elongated style) and chapstick, you know, just in case ;)  Rubber and canvas, approx. 8" by 6" by 2"

"Thug Clutch"  I had a few issues with my construction on this one, it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted so I'm classifying it as an experiment.  It's just a little pouch like a gold poke but with a nice heavy steel bottom so that if someone decides they want to mug you then you can give them your handbag...right upside the head!  I might make another one of these so I can get my flaws worked out but I like the idea.  Leather and suede with forged steel bottom.  Approx. 10" tall and 4" in diameter.  Well, this bag is now owned by a family in Muncie, Indiana, so I guess I have to make another now.  Actually two because I was just commissioned for another Thug Clutch.  I'm really glad people are enjoying it.

"The Bull" Acrylic on canvas, approx. 3' by 4'  I painted this while living in Phoenix, Arizona.  It's really hot there.  $6,000

"The Tiger" Acrylic on canvas.  I painted this one while living in Tukwilla, Washington, approx. 4' by 4'  The really cool part about this is that if you have those minature christmas lights that are programed to flash and you alternate the blue and green flashing lights then this painting looks like it is 3-D and it is coming off the canvas to get you!  I'm serious, I didn't plan it, i was looking at it one day around Christmas time and I saw it doing that and I was like "What the heck?!!"  $8,000

The following Images are drawings or paintings I've done, I'll get prices and sizes updated in about a month, I'm in the process of shipping them all from Alaska to the lower 48. and I just can't remember all the sizes without measuring them.  If you are interested in a particular one please call me and I'll get the size and price for you.  Some are framed and some are not.

"A Cold Landscape"  This is a view of the Turnagain Arm in Anchorage, Alaska from up on the mountain side.  The sunset you see is over the Kenai Peninsula and the Alaska Range.  Acrylic on board, framed $600.

"A Cold Landscape version 2"  I think t his is a 2' by 4' canvas, this is sort of the same view as version one but modified.  This is heavy acrylic on canvas, lots of texture.  Unframed $200.

"A Moose at Sunset"  owned by Sam of Anchorage, Alaska.  2" by 3.5" colored pencil on paper.  I was on the beach at Kinkaid and this moose came walking down the beach and over the hill just as the sun was setting.

"Alone" or "Woman Adrift"  pencil on paper, owned by my wife.  This woman is adrift at sea on a broken plank with nails in it.  She is naked and exposed, a sea monster comes to investigate, is it going to eat her or is it going to help her get back to land and survive.  The woman is careless either way, she is happy if she dies or happy if she lives, she is confident in who she is and regardless of her situation she is relaxed, calm and sure.  This drawing is based on a photo my mother Julie took while at a seminar with Joyce Wilson at Cannon Beach in Oregon.  I was going to sell it to Lakota before we were dating, I thought I'd be sneaky and tell her to just keep it at home and if she really liked it then she could buy it from me.  I thought she would fall in love with it and I'd make some money for food or rent.  Turns out I fell in love with her and we got married about three years later.  It's one of her favorite drawings I've done, she says it helps her study.

"Self Portrait"  This is my favorite drawing, maybe not of all my drawings but for sure of my self.  It just says ME!  I drew it while drinking beer and sketching stuff with my cutting goggles on.  The dark green tint of the glasses allows me to get inside my head and make the images come out on paper easier.  I drew this looking in the mirror late one night.

My version of Kathy Kolowitz Uprising.  I don't remember where I saw Kathy's drawing but I think I did this on cheap 20# copier paper, I just loved her image so much I felt I should try to imitate it.  Since this isn't acid free paper I don't know how many years it will last, but I sure like it.

"Aunt Cherri's Symphony"  I drew this after Lakota and I went to the Anchorage Symphony, I had season tickets so we got to enjoy a lot of great music and performances.  I forget exactly which one this was but the conductor was going nuts with his baton waving and his hair was bouncing all over, the high pitched instruments were on the left and the low pitched instruments were on the right, it was like a battle.  The conductor would order each side but when his back was turned it was like the one side would taunt the other.  Their instrument bows became swords or wheapons and the harder  and faster they moved them the greater they seemed to be.  My personal favorite are the deep base low pitched instruments.  I think they won.  Owned my my Aunt Cherri.

"Close up of a Rose"  Acrylic on canvas board.  This is what a rose looks like when you look down into the unfurled petals.  Unframed $200

"Fashion Woman"  This woman knows all about fashion, everything, but she does have on a pair of Thaddeus Du Bois designer sunglasses.  Charcoal on paper 18" by 24" unframed $200

This was a First Friday Card I designed for Frame of Mind Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska.  I don't want to sell the original but I have T-shirts available.  I can have this image, or really any image printed on a T-shirt through my friend Neil Kelly at www.cmcwebsite.com

"Feeding Mosquito"  Colored pencil on paper, framed 18" by 24"

"Mosquito Bite" Graphite and conte on paper, 18" by 24" .

"Flowers from the Valley"  Ink on paper, I forget the name of these flowers but they are just beautiful purple.  I took a picture of them one summer while I was at the visitors center out in Palmer, Alaska.  I drew this while in Ketchikan.

"Is This Yours?"  Acrylic on canvas, approx. 2' by 3'.  This woman has just cut out a jeleaous heart that was protected but now the barbed wire is doing more harm than good.  She holds the knife ready to carve out the next heart.  $300

"Jake at Bennihana"  I treated myself out to dinner one night and Bennihana is one of my favorite places to go.  There was a family at the table that had a young son they were teaching to use chopsticks, they had the rubber band on the back and everything.  The childs name was Jake, he was so cute.  He did sort of get the hang of the chopsticks but he was much more interested in eating than learning a difficult way to get food in his mouth.  Charcoal on paper $100

"Kenai Campfire"  I drew this on location one night at about 2 a.m. while having a little fire on Nikiski beach in Kenai, Alaska.  The tide was out and the Alaska Range was in the background.

"Kiss of the Sungoddess"  Acrylic on canvas board, unframed $400

"Neandertal Bones"  This is a slightly modified drawing of a picture in a book I've got, I think the name of the book is "Patterns in Prehistory"  Graphite on card stock.  Shadow box framed with rice paper matt.

"Neptune" Acrylic on canvas approx. 2' by 3' painted while I was in Tukwilla, Washington $1000

"New Life"  This is a book mark I did for New Life Christian Church in Warsaw, Indiana, this is the original drawing.  Colored pencil on paper, approx. 2" by 10" in a very nice frame.

"Night Mare"  This is one of my favorite drawings, charcoal on paper 18" by 24"  This is Night Mare, a Mare in the night and also like a dream a night mare but also Latin "Mare" meaning sea, so it's the night sea.  Framed $5,000

"On the Rocks"  This is a self portrait, ink on card stock, 12" by 12" I submitted it to the "No Big Heads National Jurried Competition"  It didn't win squat.  This is me having a drink of 100 proof schnapps behind a rock to keep out of the wind on my way down from the summit of North Suicide, a mountain in the Chugach Range in Anchorage, Alaska.  I kinda like this so I'll keep it unless your just throwing a stupid amount of money at me for it.

"Peak Three"  This is the view from Peak Three in the Chugach Range.  I climbed up there one day during an awesome wind storm and very cold weather.  There is a small cave near the summit and this is the view looking out across the wind blown snow at the sun descending through the whispy winter cirrus clouds above the Kenai Peninsula.  Acrylic on board, $800

"Ravens"  Sumi ink on paper, framed $1200

"Self Portrait of a Sea Monster"  Ink on paper.  The sea monster is only showing part of itself and to the distant ship it appears to only be a wave but the potential is hidden.  The sea monster is about it's business but it notices the ship in the distance.  It's a little too far away right now but should the winds change it will take advantage of it's superior power and situation, for now it waits salivating at the chance to make it big, for it's ship to come in.

"Self Portrait With My Tongue Out"  I guess that says it all.  Ink on paper.

"Sunrise on Mountain Island"  owned by Sam of Anchorage, Alaska.  Ink on paper

"White Clover"  owned by Sam of Anchorage, Alaska.  This is white clover that used to grow in my front yard.  Ink on clay board

"What We Aspire To Be"  owned by Sam of Anchorage, Alaska.  Ink on paper.

A tatoo I drew up for a friend, I don't think he ever got it done though.

"Vahalla of the Street Lights"  Ink on paper.  I came up with this idea as I was driving west into the setting sun on Northern Lights BLVD. in Anchorage, Alaska.  I was sitting at a stop light and looking at all the street lights and power lines lining both sides of the street.  some of the street lights were starting to come on and the lights were on for the Vahalla shopping center a few blocks down the road.  It just seemed like the lights were agressive and ready to battle with the other lights on the opposite side of the road.  This is one of my favorite drawings.

"A New Love" colored pencil, graphite on paper.

"April 9th" or "Reaching for Love"  Acrylic on canvas.
